26 Days Til I Do!

Day 26 is here and this dress is a doozie!

NDAD - Day 26 - Vintage Wedding Dress

There's a whole lotta lace...

...and a whole lotta sleeve going on!

NDAD - Day 26 - Vintage Wedding Dress 3

I mean there is really lace trim everywhere.

I don't love that the lace is ivory and the rest of the dress is white, so I'm going to do a little color change!

Yellow dye, here we come! Once the dress was finished going through the cycle, I thought keeping the cool lace sleeves short, removing the longer portion underneath, would be the best bet!

Bye sleeve, byeeeeeeeee!

So, now it was time to turn this into a super cute mini!!

NDAD - Day 26 - Vintage Wedding Dress DIY

Sadly I trimmed too short (😳) SO, I had to make an alternate plan. How about adding a long skirt on top to hide my mistake?

NDAD - Day 26 - Dyed Vintage Wedding Dress

This works, right? Because look how short...

Even though this wasn't the original plan, I'm digging how it turned out!

Paired with a yellow braided, woven clutch, I think the whole outfit came together rather nicely!

I love having to think of alternate options when things like this happen! I'm so glad I kept this skirt in the collection! 😂

27 Days Til I Do!

I loved this dress when I first saw it!

NDAD - Day 27 - Vintage Wedding Dress

There was a sheer embroidered layer on top of a short sleeved dress.

NDAD - Day 27 - Vintage Wedding Dress

Kind of felt like a 2-in-1 look!

NDAD - Day 27 - Vintage Wedding Dress 3

The bottom had a bit of a flapper vibe, but I was all over that sheer top layer!

NDAD - Day 27 - Vintage Wedding Dress 4

Into the dye bath this went!!

NDAD - Day 27 - Vintage Wedding Dress Pinned Layers

The bottom layer was held together with a safety pin (I only realized this after I dyed the piece) so it was an easy removal.

NDAD - Day 27 - Vintage Wedding Dress

I decided to work with the top layer and the first thing I really noticed now that the color was poppin' was the lack of pearl buttons! Because there were SO many missing I thought about the sleeves I cut off from Day 28's dress... They had pearl buttons and they matched the size of the ones on the green piece, so it was an easy choice to do some button repurposing! I removed them from the leftover sleeves...

...and stitched them to the green piece. New buttons, FTW!

When this was all done, I was playing around with different ways to wear it. Today I went with a little waist tying and jeans action.

NDAD - Day 27 - Upcycled Wedding Dress

This was another piece where the embroidery took to the dye SO nicely. It feels brand new!

With a vintage silver clutch and my vintage Candies, this old wedding dress-turned-blouse is ready to go!

NDAD - Day 27 - Upcycled Wedding Dress 3

Oh and there's the vintage Griffith Observatory in the background too...just adds to the whole look.

NDAD - Day 27 - Upcycled Wedding Dress 4

I'm 100% in on the adjustments! AND the best part is, is that the top portion of the dress can be worn so many ways...I'm already thinking of alternative options!

27 days til I do!

28 Days Til I Do!

We've got another winner here!!

NDAD - Day 28 - Vintage Wedding Dress

Look at that collar o'lace!

NDAD - Day 28 - Vintage Wedding Dress 2

It's kinda cowboy which I dig mixed with some SERIOUS cuff action!

NDAD - Day 28 - Vintage Wedding Dress 3

PS the price tag is still on the dress!! This puppy was a whopping $10.

NDAD - Day 28 - Vintage Wedding Dress 4

I'm not going to wear this dress as is, but there is some serious potential.

NDAD - Day 28 - Vintage Wedding Dress 4

I had to start with that trusty bottle of dye! I decided to go with Violet just because I knew the lace would really pop once color was added. I removed the bottom panel of the dress, created a new hem, and went ham on the sleeves and chopped them off!

NDAD - Day 28 - Vintage Wedding Dress Dyed

The bow was sweet, but ultimately I took it off. (We'll see where we can use this again!) I had other belting thoughts in mind to make this dress a bit more modern!

It's new dress time!

NDAD - Day 28 - Dyed Vintage Wedding Dress

I ended up pairing the dress with a vintage gold belt that gave the dress a bit more of a modern/fun vibe. The dress feels super feminine and the addition of the hammered metal belt gives a little more edge!

NDAD - Day 28 - Dyed Vintage Wedding Dress

But how pretty does that lace look!

NDAD - Day 28 - Dyed Wedding Dress

I LOVE the bold violet color  that really makes the top portion stand out.

NDAD - Day 28 - Dyed Vintage Wedding Dress 2

I'm loving this side by side because the new dress looks night and day different than where it started. I hope whoever got married in this dress is happy with the new results!
