My dress du jour comes from Jordan in Denver...
90s in the house!! I had mini versions of this dress when I was a tween. Look at this lace!!
"This totally looked like a Laura Ashley piece or something that my mom hung as curtains!! LOL! Try your hand at making this something you can wear outside the house!"
Let the seam ripping begin!!
I started off with the lace - I'm taking it all out! With my seam ripper, I began to attack the collar.
I opened up the neckline completely and removed all that lace!
Can't wait to reuse this!!
As I'm not a big fan of the faux buttons...
...I took them off!! (PS, I shall use them again too!)
I pinned back up the neckline and stitched it closed.
After trying the piece on with all the fixing on top, I actually really liked how it looked!! Just a simple tweak of removing some excess material made all the difference.
The final look by day...
The back...which is secretly my favorite part!
And by night...
Just some boot action subbing in for those flips and then the addition of a cardigan down below.
Wore this out to the last show (for me) at the Hollywood Bowl - blend of Berlin (hello Top Gun soundtrack that was played on rotation in my tape deck twenty years ago), B-52's (literally karaoke with 20,000 people singing "Love Shack"), and Human League rocking the stage.
There was a little back and forth singing between the guys and the girls during "Don't You Want Me"...it was like we were straight outta Grease doing "You're the One that I Want"!
Even with all the dancing and bouncing around, it was still cool out (gotta love those hot California days and cool California nights) making my cardi a staple with the summer dress.
I loved the boho-ness of it and will absolutely be bringing it back this fall - textured tights, Oxfords perhaps... Jordan, thank you for today's piece!
