This dress got set to me from Jessie out in KS!! "After sorting through old clothes in my closet, this one struck me as something you could rework. The material is light and silky and I remember wearing this often in the 90s. Time to get rid of it, so have fun!!"
The material is floral but it has a holiday feel to it, which will make it perfect for the yearly holiday dinner I have tonight!
I'm not going to go crazy with this piece - just some shortening and taking in today! I love the pleat that is in the center of the skirt and want to maintain that. The ruffle neck is great too, so it'll just be about giving it more structure today!
I trimmed the skirt...
I pinned the raw edges under to work out a new hem...
I pinned the arms and body of the dress where it needed taking in...
...and then sewed it all in place!
Just an easy few steps to bring this piece from fine to fabulous!! It was chilly tonight, so I took a vintage sweater coat and paired it with the dress. It's boldly red, so it screamed holiday!!
I quickly removed the coat for a fast pic...
With tights or with knee socks, like I wore tonight, this new dress is super fun!! I belted it with a skinny tan number and threw a ribbon hair band to really scream festive!!
Our server was totally in the holiday spirit too as we celebrated our third annual pre-holiday Mexican food fest...
...and enjoyed our laughter :)
I was pretending JT was the paparazzi when this shot was taken...there were some legit paps outside another restaurant down the street, and all I kept thinking was how cold they must be waiting for that shot of a Kardash-Hilton. Brr!!
Today's giveaway includes a little something, something for your own night out! A purse/earring combo...mustard satchel and a pair of silver orb-ish earrings. (I love this color yellow!!)
For today, what's your fave spot/location/restaurant to celebrate a birthday/get-together?? Leave a comment with your answer below and a winner will get picked randomly tonight (12/14) and mentioned in tomorrow’s (12/15) post. Kmbc816 was yesterday's winner, congrats!
I guess Mexican is the trend because I always remember loving going to El Torito as a kid for birthdays - something about the festive server's dresses, the big sombreros we got to wear, and mostly the fried ice cream that came out at the end of the meal :)
