What up with that?! What up with that?! (Cue Kenan Thompson...)
I started by taking off the sleeves of this dress. I love the collar and want to make that the focal point! With seam rippers I removed each sleeve and pinned down the raw edges of the armholes.
As the dress was a bit too big up top, I took in two inches on both sides of the body. With the body and arms pinned, I went to my sewing machine and made some adjustments.
I added a 99 cent leather belt I scored at Thrift Town in Dallas, my chestnut eBay boots, a studded F21 purse from a trip to Plato's Closet in Denver last May, and my flea market aviators to complete the collared dress look.
For colder days, adding a long sleeved, bow necked, vintage blouse underneath could do wonders as well. I feel like I'm part of the vintage Abercrombie collection, back when they focused more on the safari look, pre-Limited buyout. (PS, I totally have one of those vintage shirts - will pair that with a remake soon!!)
The pleated skirt was such a nice accent - you can really see the pleats pop in the picture above!! Love my new, old comfortable dress for the day :)
