I was totally attracted to this piece because of the fabric - it was as if this skirt was made with leftover upholstery fabric someone used for their couch!
The colors/texture/thickness/patterns were amazing, however there were a few pretty big issues. Lots of stragglers...
...and a few big holes. Holes right at the waist!
These are all totally fixable and a brand new skirt will be ready to wear in no time!
I began by pinning all the areas that were full of holes and open! At the waist, along the side seams.
I tackled the bottom of the skirt next. The raw edges needed to be tweaked and I wanted to adjust the length just a bit as well, so I began to pin everything under.
I folded up about five inches of fabric to get it to the desired length and pinned the edges all the way around the bottom.
I sewed up those holes and fixed the hem - we're good to go, well almost!
Post-sewing, I grabbed some mauve ribbon and a vintage brooch and pinned it to the waist. It was like a chic little novelty ribbon we won back in elementary school on field days!!
Just a little extra something added to the skirt that I paired with my favorite navy tank by Velvet and my vintage Candies mules. These are my summer staples and they already need to be re-heeled!
A little closeup of my added flair!
It was the perfect day to be outside for a bit - I grabbed some froyo and ran a few errands before it was back to work at home!
Hope everybody had a most lovely Sunday!!
