I'm back!! Pages have been FedEx'd...
...giggles have been had, and I'm a very happy gal right now!! Looking forward to some sleep catch up this Memorial Day weekend!
Today's piece has been one that I've been OBSESSED with, so I just needed to do a copycat!
Kirsten Dunst rocked this Muu Muu top on the January 2012 cover of Lucky Magazine...
...and I knew immediately that I would make my own version!
Now when I first saw the bow on the top, I thought it was sparkly and bead covered. Not until I took a good close up look did I realize that it was in fact lace!!
I was still feeling the glitter train, so I made the executive decision - I'm taking this bow to Sparkle Town!! I grabbed a piece of black felt and Tulip Shimmer Fabric Paint in black...
...and started to coat the entire sheet of black felt.
Once the felt was covered, I let the paint dry and began working on the pink shirt part. The Miu Miu version was a blouse, but after trying to match colors and find a shape that matched, I scraped that idea and went the T shirt route. I have a slew of Hanes tees in my drawer and figured that I'd just dye it fuchsia! I began a wash in the machine with hot water...
...then added my dye (RIT Dye in Fuchsia)!! Because this piece is 100% cotton, the color is going to take to it splendidly and give me just the right pink I had been searching for.
I dried the shirt and went back to the felt! With the paint completely dry, I turned the felt over (to the non-painted side), and grabbed a silver Sharpie!
I began to draw a bow to match the same shape of the bow from the top. The beauty of drawing on the back is that nobody will see my multiple tries to get the perfect triangles!
I trimmed...
...then pinned the bow to the outside of the T-shirt!
My finished version...
Wassup Miu Miu's 2012 Resort collection?!
The lace can be tried next time, but I'm pretty much in love with my shiny neck!
Color match on the top front and the hair. We're kinda like twinsies.
All I need is a leather mini and it's on!!
