130 Days to Go: $1 Remake

For this dress, the immediate attraction was the amazing brooch up top that was stitched in place!  That was what initially brought me in!!  Pearls and beads...does it every time! New Dress A Day - VIntage Dress - DIY - Blue Before - 130

What I wasn't so thrilled about was the way the piece fit - it was a dress with an attached cape/shawl on top that just didn't work!  I loved the idea of the capelet but not like this!

I decided to remove the my little cape to see how it'll work off of the dress!  It's scissor time!!

I began with my seam ripper and started to remove the stitches around the neck that kept the capelet in place.

I carefully removed each stitch...

...and finally had it detached from the neck!  The only other thing that was keeping it in place was the pearly brooch that was stitched down, so I trimmed it off of the dress!!

To give it a more casual look, I took my capelet and paired it with a black tank top and my skinny jeans.

I loved the bit of glam paired with the everyday jeans and tee look I love to do.

I can always remove the brooch and either add a pinback to it or put on a barrette if I want to wear it differently.

It was a fun little piece to give a basic look some shimmer!!  I still have the rest of the blue dress that will reappear soon!!
