I feel like it's been a bit since my last muumuu and this particular piece was super rad. I loved the pattern, the pockets...
...and the fluttery collar at the neck.
I can't wait to work some magic!!
The first thing I did was attack that fluttery neck. The idea was cute, but wasn't working for me on this muumuu! With a seam ripper, I began to remove!
When I finished, I was left with this chunk of fabric...
...we'll add this somewhere else soon!! I hit the sleeves next and just cut them both off with my Fiskars shears.
Now we're cooking with gas!! Collar is gone, sleeves are gone...time to fix that neck!!
I trimmed a triangular section from the front and the back of the dress using the old neckline end point as my guide.
I pinned under the raw edges and sewed everything in place, taking in the body as well to make it nice and fit!
After trying out the finished look, I made a decision on the fly to do a little pinch and cinch action below my collarbone. I have to say that I loved the way this turned out. New cut, new fit - perfect thing for a night out!!
There were two sashes attached at the front of the dress that wrapped around and tied in the back. No need for an extra belt = total score!!
I brought along my multicolored metallic cardigan (vintage Betsey Johnson) for cuteness/warmth while getting to hang with my fave pal RM.
As we were walking, this dude named Justin (because I totally asked him what his name was) accosted my camera. He took his own personal glamour shot...
...without knowing that I like to post pictures on my blog for all of you to see :) Ssssssssorry.
He was nice to take a pic of me with RM...
...and even directed us to dip for another shot. Yep, dip. Yep, on the street.
For all his photo direction, I figured I couldn't scurry away without a shot with him.
We left our new acquaintance and lo and behold we came across bleachers on the sidewalk!! I obviously sat down on them, like you do, when there's bleachers on the street!
What a super fun night! Nothing like amazing company and random street happenings to make it memorable :)
Oh and comfortable shoes too...that totally gets thrown into the mix of awesomeness!! (PS, these are Michael Kors - I scored them on eBay and are beyond comfy!!)
