I found this piece at a yard sale and took it home with me for $5!
I was totally obsessed with it when I first laid eyes on it...I LOVED the material and the iridescence.
Couldn't wait to get working on it!!
I got to do a segment on Hallmark's Home & Family show and this was one of the pieces I picked to redo during the taping - I needed to find something that I could complete within an hour, so I put my thinking cap on and came up with just the right thing!
I shot all these on set while I was working, so apologies if I didn't get everything shot!!
I began by taking out the center seam of the dress...
...and then cut my length. I used the edge of the slit at my guide to where to trim.
Once the piece was shortened and completely open in front, I took some navy velvet ribbon and started to pin around the edges of the sleeves and down the center. I picked a 7/8" ribbon for the sleeves...
...and a 1/2" ribbon for the center. I started to sew my trim in place after everything was pinned down!
I stitched a new hem at the bottom of the jacket and took two brooches (I scored them from Forever 21!) along with some metallic ribbon to finish the job!
New jacket stitched within an hour on the show...
New jacket being rocked by Marisa after the show...
I paired this with some jeans, a grey tank, and a thrifted H&M (from their Conscious Collection) blouse for a little night of drinks!
I think my favorite part is the velvet on the sleeves...
Full clip from the show will be posted shortly!! What's on the holiday outfit agenda for you guys??
