So remember when I was freezing cold last week, in my poorly heated apartment, when Los Angeles was having "Arctic Temps" (per our newscasters)? Yeah well that was exactly a week ago and today it's 80 degrees out. (PS, I'm not complaining.) With that, I need to dress for the weather, so I'm going with this lovely little number.
I'm loving the oranges, greens, and reds, however I'm not loving the GAPING HOLE IN THE BACK OF THE DRESS!! The back is completely open and that's just not going to cut it!
Time to make this into my summer, er January outfit!!
I began by pinning down the raw edges of the gaping hole in the back of the dress.
I'm going to add some buttons here to keep it closed, so I went to my stash and started to sort through it to find matching ones!
I went with the lovely gold ones above and ended up tacking three in place - one up top, one in the center, and one right at the bottom.
Once my buttons were set, I trimmed three pieces of elastic - these guys are set to go around those buttons to keep the back in place!
I tackled the neckline next, giving it a small V...
...took in the sides just a bit...
...and then sewed everything together and in place.
Paired with my red boots, my warm weather ensemble was complete!!
I love my little buttoned back!!
The beauty of this piece is that with a jacket, cardigan, tights and some gloves, this will work like a charm when it's really cold. (I know we're getting some rain towards the end of the week, so maybe this will be re-worn for a rewind day sooner than I imagined!)
I couldn't help but dance in the street - yeah, I might have been pretending to be a Bunhead...a Bunhead too old for ABC Family. I lucked out that there was street cleaning on this particular block and had space for pirouettes.
May the sun be out for everyone tomorrow and may the heat present itself sooner than later in most parts of the cold and snowy nation!!
