Happy first day after daylight savings, friends!! I'm super excited for the evening light. I'm not super excited about this dress that had a not so cute spot on it.
However, the fabric was amazing!
Aside from the spot on the front, the ivory color just wasn't doing me (and my fair skin) any favors...
...so I thought a color change would be perfection!
I ended up tossing this dress into last week's dye bath of Emerald dye...
...that gave me this piece a week ago...
...and my new dress as well! (Today's dress was sitting on top of last week's bucket pic, but I didn't even mention it...I have to keep a few secrets!)
I let it dry on the line and then decided to give it a little trim. I cut off a few inches from the bottom...
...pinned the edge...
...and then stitched it in place to create a new hem.
I love the new length, and I love this color!!
I wore black tights, my black Kenneth Cole boots, and an estate sale necklace to give a bit of modern/edge to the vintage feel of the dress because I was heading to the theater tonight for something a bit non-traditional! (Nope, it wasn't for Wicked...although this dress would have fit in perfectly there!)
I took my dress and my layers to Hollywood's Pantages Theater to see Mike Tyson's one man show, "Undisputed Truth." Not sure if anyone caught it on Broadway or at any one of the other tour stops, but that's where I spent my Sunday eve.
Sugar Ray Leonard was in the front row and Tyson kept calling out (and using it in 80% of his material), "Champ, " all night. It kind of became part of his act. Also, Evander Holyfield was totally there too. I remember his ear getting bit off by Tyson in June '97 (I was totally watching it at a high school graduation party) and now they're friends? Yep, I had no idea. I was not so secretly into the Flea and Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) sightings too...I mean.
I took a selfie in the gorge Art Deco bathroom at the theater...
...to document the amazing mirrored walls. Like I said, I didn't do Wicked tonight, but it felt super Wizard of Oz-y! (PS, anyone see Oz: The Great and Powerful this weekend? Like? Dislike? It's totally on my list :)
Cheers to a fab start to the week! Yay, Monday!
