I went thrifting last weekend and purchased this lovely garment from the American Way Thrift Store in Burbank (one of my faves!). I was totally drawn in because of the amazing color...
...fab embroidery, and eyelet lace, however it wasn't made for an adult.
This was straight outta the kids section! I couldn't close the top of the dress if I tried!
That obviously didn't stop me from purchasing it!
I can't wait to turn this from pint size to my size!
Since the straps were not going to get around me, I decided to take them off!
I was left with these lovely pieces...
...and folded them under to pin an even waistline before trimming the remnants off. We're heading down the skirt road for this piece!
With my new waistline pinned...
...I stitched it in place.
There were snaps in places that didn't work, so I removed them, measured my waist, and readded them to the new spots that I measured to fit me!
With my snaps in place, I was ready to enjoy the day!
I paired my new piece with a light yellow and white striped knit top. I loved the pattern mixing and thought the stripes and florals were fun to match up.
With my new outfit complete, I was off to the 'cues!
The fruit salad was all chopped up and ready to serve!
I stayed away from the grill, however there was some serious chef action happening with chicken, brisket, and lots of pork!
I got to hang with my big pals...
...and little pals...
...which was the perfect way to enjoy the day.
RS finished and prepped his pulled pork that had been brining/smoking/marinating for hours while we all waited in anticipation to get our first bite. I've made crock pot pulled pork before, but I've never put in the same love (and patience) as RS!
I piled on lots of goodies and got to chomping! (I actually need to find out RS's recipe for brisket because that was also served and it was insane. Any of you have delicious brisket recipes out there?)
We had plenty of savory treats, but the sweets were in full effect as well. I was obsessed with this hamburger cake!!
I'm not going to lie, I definitely had the meat sweats after I went to town on my plate o'grub!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Sending all my love to the men and women of the armed services!
