When you mention Pretty in Pink anywhere in an email, I'm totally yours. Irene's remake is fantastic and is totally making me crave a little Andie/Duckie action. Netflix streaming time for me!!
I found your blog a few days ago and since then I have done almost nothing but browse through the archives. Being aptly inspired, I pulled this dress out of my closet. I got it at a vintage shop for a "pretty in pink" 80s party a few summers ago, specifically because I thought it might be something I could wear again.
I didn't.
Did Irene totally pull and Andie and make this prom-ready??
Thus I decided it needed some love. It fit me well enough but the skirt was a length that wasn't totally flattering on me, and it's a lot of pink and ruffle for a dress. I cut off the ruffle on the bottom of the dress and restitched it around the waist to make a peplum-esque top.
I debated taking off the sleeves...
...but I decided I like that it's still got some 80s flare.
I'm so in love with this pink/subtle polka-dotted fabric - you did such an incredible job! I'm glad you kept the sleeves as well...it's got a bit of a throw back feel but gives a lovely bit of femininity with the slight pouf. I hope you have other projects up your sleeve, Irene! Can't wait to see what else you come up with - Andie would have been proud!
