Charlotte's NDAD Creation

We're approaching August (what?!?!?!) and  I've been pouring though old pieces, wanting to remove sleeves on everything to make them heat appropriate!  Charlotte's remake is a fab one because she takes something that makes me sweat just by looking at it, and crafts it into a brand new frock, ready to ring in August with.  Check it out...

Hi Marisa, I love reading your blog and seeing all your fantastic creations!  You have inspired me to start my own refashion project and I have bought every oversized, ugly dress or skirt I could find in the two charity shops in town!  I found this gem for $1.50...

...and knew I wanted to turn it into something cool!

I'm obsessed with this color and can't wait to see what it turns into!!

I cut off the sleeves and trimmed a bit off the sides as well as the length.

I removed the ruffles next, which according to my husband, made me look like a frill-necked lizard, and reattached one of them on the newly lowered neckline.

Now it looks like something I would happily wear in public, after a bit of ironing!

This piece is so fantastic - the color is perfect and the new neckline is fun and flirty!  I must say, I love that your husband keeps it real.  I'm sure once he saw the mellowed ruffle-ing he was totally on board.  Such a great upcycle, taking something completely atrocious and turning it into something ready for summer!  Can't wait to see the next batch of pieces, Charlotte!
