My month of DIY costumes shot in front of the actual shooting locations continue!! Day 5 has arrived! Today’s costume comes from:
This is one of my FAVORITE John Hughes movies. Such an 80s classic!
The exterior of Andie's (Molly Ringwald) dad's (Harry Dean Stanton) house was actually shot in Pasadena, and it actually looks the same still!
The key Andie costume pieces that you’ll need include:
1. Prom Corsage!! (Grab some flowers from the garden or snag a few stems and DIY one yourself!)
2. Wig (I used my own red hair, but this curly one does the trick!)
3. The dress!! (I upcycled two dresses and crafted them into my "Pretty in Pink" ensemble that I featured in my book!! Check it out for the full tutorial, or look for something pink and polka-dotted to match Andie's as much as possible.)
I featured my favorite quote from the movie to tease today's post on Instagram yesterday...
What. About. Prom. Blaine?
My final Andie look from the pages of my book (pre-red hair!) looked like this...
Skip that dress at the mall, Andie! Just DIY it, girl!
I couldn't wait to shoot my dress in front of the actual shooting location of Andie's dad's house! The tracks are right next to it too. Did we wait for trains to come? Most definitely...you'll see some of these shots towards the end of the post!
I was so inspired by this film SO MUCH when I was a kid. It probably had a lot to do with what I do now!
With my prom dress on, I was just waiting for Andrew McCarthy.
I should have worn this for my prom! Molly Ringwald, in the house!
The train finally arrived, and the shoot was complete.
Well, almost complete...
Side by Side Andies!
Five looks down, 26 to go!
