Halloween Location Looks: 30 of 31 – The Big Lebowski

My month of DIY costumes shot in front of the actual shooting locations continues!! Day 30 is here and it's on my list as one of my favorite Coen Brothers movies. Today’s costume comes from:

There is nothing cooler than Jeff Bridges as The Dude.

This opening scene is the best - he's in a Ralphs grocery store, wearing his iconic robe, drinking some milk. Like you do...

I had to hit up a local Ralphs to recreate this fun scene.

The things you'll need for the perfect dude costume are...

1. Robe (mine is from Overstock.com, but anything in the brown family works like a charm!)

2. Beard (this one is c/o Party City)

3. Sandals (I used a freebie pair I got on a flight, but love these $15 Okabashi sandals!)

4. Sunglasses (I'm wearing my prescription ones, but these work as a cheap option!)

Let's go to Ralphs!

I grabbed my robe and headed off to the grocery store!

I grabbed that milk carton and brought out the Dude!

Employees were restocking while I wore my robe in the dairy section. It's LA, there's crazy stuff everywhere, so nobody blinked an eye!

I tried my best to recreate Jeff's incredible facial hair.

Nothing like a fake beard to really feel like El Duderino.

Thirty looks down, one to go!

Halloween Location Looks: 23 of 31 - Nightmare on Elm Street

My month of DIY costumes shot in front of the actual shooting locations continues!! Day 23 is here and it's a Halloween horror classic. Today’s costume comes from:

I feel like I catch this movie each year during all the Halloween marathons on TV.

So, the actual house from the movie is totally in my hood! It looked like this...

..and like this in the movie...

...but in real life, how lovely is this house!! Movie house = nightmares. IRL House = dreamy.

But, the best part of this movie...JOHNNY DEPP!! Love the horror movie starts for celebs. (Hello Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun!!)

So, to complete a Freddy costume from Nightmare on Elm Street, here are the main elements you'll need:

1. Sweater (I found my shirt at Goodwill, but here's a spot on replica sweater from Hot Topic.)

2. Glove (I had a "Wolverine" glove that I used but there are Freddy gloves everywhere. Plus the real deal glove scares me to death!)

3. Hat (Mine is vintage, but this style is everywhere.)

I put on my thrifted striped top, grabbed my plastic glove, and donned my hat for the easiest DIY costume to create.

Freddy's got some moves!

The red door matched the sweater so nicely!

This to me was one of the scariest things I saw when I was a kid.

Nightmares at slumber parties? Check!

As much as I've matured, if someone wore this and creeped up on me, I'd still lose it! I get scared over everything.

Twenty-three looks down, 8 to go!
