Halloween Location Looks: 23 of 31 - Nightmare on Elm Street

My month of DIY costumes shot in front of the actual shooting locations continues!! Day 23 is here and it's a Halloween horror classic. Today’s costume comes from:

I feel like I catch this movie each year during all the Halloween marathons on TV.

So, the actual house from the movie is totally in my hood! It looked like this...

..and like this in the movie...

...but in real life, how lovely is this house!! Movie house = nightmares. IRL House = dreamy.

But, the best part of this movie...JOHNNY DEPP!! Love the horror movie starts for celebs. (Hello Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun!!)

So, to complete a Freddy costume from Nightmare on Elm Street, here are the main elements you'll need:

1. Sweater (I found my shirt at Goodwill, but here's a spot on replica sweater from Hot Topic.)

2. Glove (I had a "Wolverine" glove that I used but there are Freddy gloves everywhere. Plus the real deal glove scares me to death!)

3. Hat (Mine is vintage, but this style is everywhere.)

I put on my thrifted striped top, grabbed my plastic glove, and donned my hat for the easiest DIY costume to create.

Freddy's got some moves!

The red door matched the sweater so nicely!

This to me was one of the scariest things I saw when I was a kid.

Nightmares at slumber parties? Check!

As much as I've matured, if someone wore this and creeped up on me, I'd still lose it! I get scared over everything.

I lived for this show! (I still live for this show!)

I saw an amazing post from I'm Not A Stalker showing the high school used for the first season of Saved By The Bell...

...so I had to make a valley trip and craft a 90s costume perfect for the gang. Zack had the BEST wardrobe.

Found the school...

...and put together my costume!

To complete the ultimate Zack Morris costume from Saved By The Bell, here are the main elements you'll need:

1. WIG! (This one is c/o Party City)

2. 90s block phone (After not being able to source a real one, I printed one out, backed it on cardboard, and toted it along with me!)

3. 90s shirt (this one is from etsy, but I used a blue poncho that helped to wrangle the SoCal spirit of Zack.)

My month of DIY costumes shot in front of the actual shooting locations continues!! Day 21 is here and it's an homage to the TV show of my teenage years. Today’s costume comes from:

All I know is that Jordan Catalano was the angsty-teen heartthrob of m'dreams.

And, I wanted auburn hair more than anything when I was 12. (I just decided to wait 20 years to have that red hair dream come to a reality!!)

The episode "Why Jordan Can't Read" had a scene that was shot at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)...

...so a visit within the collections was soon to be had!

For the perfect Claire Danes as Angela Chase ensemble, think ultimate 90s, grunge-chic.

1. Plaid shirt (Mine was thrifted, but you can find plaid shirts everywhere!)

2. Babydoll Dress! (Mine is H&M, but this is another piece sure to be found while thrifting or on a quick mall trip.)

I put on my 90s ensemble and headed to the museum!

The My So-Called Life teens were there for a field trip (or hook up session as per Rayanne below)...

...which made me wish I was part of their high school because I don't recall any art museum trips. I recall trips to the county dump (we learned about recycling!), but none to see art.

Claire Danes had the frustrated teen thing down. The sighs, the deep thoughts, the hair pushing away from her face...

I tried to do my best Claire while viewing the collections...

Just wished that I had seen Jordan Catalano on any of my field trips, though...
