Remake: 60s Chain Print Dress

Mad Men just returned for its last season, so I got together with a bunch of pals for a little viewing party! When getting together to watch Mad Men, one must always dress up :) I found this chain-esque printed dress at Goodwill...

...and thought it could be perfect to wear.

Hike the skirt and made it a bit more mod? I think it's going to be just the thing!

I started off by trimming off the bottom four inches of the dress.

Next, came some pinning. This polyester piece was super easy to work with too, making this a relatively easy tweak.

And alas...the hem! Just a little stitching to tie up the raw edges.

The waist was a pinch too large, so I ended up just cinching with a safety pin. This is something that I would have totally belted, but my belts are still in boxes.

I pulled the sleeves up and paired my new dress with some (a little over the) knee boots and sunnies.

I was totally ready for the show!

I have to say, my fave part...

Roger Sterling's mustache!!! Come. On. (I love John Slattery!)

A fun themey outfit always takes the cake.

Texas!

I've been working on a longer post to recap my little trip to Austin for Texas Style Council (it's coming tonight along with a fab goodie bag giveaway filled with lots of the stuff I got to take home with me!) but wanted to share a little snippet of the awesome few days I got to enjoy back at the camp setting that the conference took place at.

When there's a lack of outlets, you have to DIY everything!!

This teepee had tables and chairs inside - outdoor dining space with twinkle lights? Totally dreamy.

There were amazing new friends and readers I met all while dressed up like Phyllis Nefler.

Troop Beverly Hills was my fave and a costume party where everyone dresses up like Girl Scouts, is going to be super chic night :)

My gal Melissa at Shoestring Magazine brought a ton of options from Austin Goodwill, so I had to capture her khaki haul. Less than $40 for everything? Total score.

Remake: Black, White, & Tan Polyester Shirt, Part II

Hey friends! I've been in Texas (woo, Longhorns!) the past week for an amazing blogging conference and am back in action. Before I give a total rundown tomorrow, I wanted to post the second way I styled this fab shirt. Remember the before...

The size was wrong, seams were undone, and the sleeves were too big because the elastic was worn out.

But, that pattern was good. SO good!

Cute and casual now, right?

It's really the most fun when you can take one piece from your wardrobe and craft multiple looks from it.

I love playing the game of, "how many different things would this piece look best with" because sometimes I surprise myself with the pairings!!
