I love lace. Love it, however on today's piece, I wasn't feeling it. This is probably due to the fact that I was literally being choked by it at my neck. That could definitely be part of the reason why :)
It was just not making me smile and this color blue should have me grinning from ear to ear, so I'm going to make a few changes!
First thing I did was start to remove the collar!!
And once that was off...
I got to taking off the rest of the lace.
Took it off the front of the dress...
...and from the slccves which I also cut short!
The length of the dress came off as well - short is going to be a trend on this one!!
Now that my collar is gone, it's time to tweak the neck. I trimmed about two inches down the center of the dress to turn this into a V neck.
Trimmed and pinned - almost ready for the sewing machine!
Now, that lace that got taken off...I wasn't just going to toss it!! I didn't like where it was originally placed but that didn't mean that I wasn't going to put it somewhere else!
I had just enough (literally, I used every bit of it!) to put it along the edge of the bottom of the dress.
Got the sewing machine out and got to work on tying up all the loose ends.
Now that my dress was finished, I was ready to slip into it for one of my last shows at the Hollywood Bowl...
...to listen to the French loves in my life, Phoenix. They started out with a little Lisztomania to get everyone on their feet and closed the night with a little 1901. "Folded, folded, folded, folded." Even the crowd got on stage to dance along.
AR and I had a girl's night to sit back and enjoy...we felt like kids enjoying our boxed lunch from Food+Lab...
...and our mini Proseccos...
...while singing along.
I didn't even take my after pic until we were in the parking lot heading home.
"It's 20 seconds till the last call, calling hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey..." Yeah, that was stuck in my head for the rest of the evening, but I didn't care. I just continued to sing along and pretended the concert hadn't ended in my head.
