Today's J Crew copycat post was another part of my day o'crafting that I had with Sonya Nimri! After tackling some neon jewelry, we went the shoe route! We came across these amazing oxfords in the J. Crew catalog created by Creatures of the Wind and immediately knew we wanted to try our hand at them!
We started with these lovely thrifted kicks! They're super cute as is, however there were some scuffs and just normal wear n'tear on the outside of them making them perfect to work with.
The J Crew shoes are oxfords, but we're taking the essence of those flats and transferring them over to these heels! Time to get paintin' and gluin' and glitterin'!
We began by taping stripes on the shoes with masking tape. This is mostly just to mark the spaces that will be painted and glued. On the J. Crew pair, the different colored sections were separated by stitching, however we used the tape to make it work on our end!
Next, we started to paint!! We wanted to incorporate similar colors into our shoes so we used some mint, orange and charcoal colored fabric paint that works on many surfaces!
The heel got painted, and the mint came next before adding the orange last. We let the shoes dry...
...and then started the gluing process! We removed the tape and then added Fabric Fusion to the leftover tan areas of the shoes...the glitter is going to go in these spots!!
Once the glue was set, we started to apply the gold glitter!! Wam, bam, thank you ma'am!!
Baby's got a new pair of shoes!!
How cute did these turn out??
I mean...thrifted shoes turned J. Crew lookalikes in an afternoon? Love this piece!
Wishing you guys a most wonderful weekend!!
